Welcome
The fact that you are on my website shows you, your
child, or a loved one has a problem or issue that you are looking to
have resolved. You have come to the right place, whether it be
depression
grief
anxiety
anger management
relationship issues
divorce counseling
attention deficit
social skills groups
learning disability
oppositional behavior
psychological evaluations
psychological testing
substance abuse/ alcoholism
personality disorders
panic attacks
I also have experience working with persons with developmental
disabilities such as mental retardation, autism, and cerebral palsy.
My primary approach begins with assisting my clients to define
what their individual goals of therapy are. How can we measure
the goal? How will we know when we've reached the objectives
necessary to fulfill each goal?
Acknowledgement that there is a problem and gaining insight into
why you or your loved one is having that problem, is the first
valuable step in the therapeutic process.
It is from this foundation that we can work together towards
problem solving and developing the skills necessary to get your
needs met. The application of psychological and
behavioral principles can help you to get your needs met in nearly
any situation. I'm here to help teach you those principles.
In the process you'll learn more about yourself, as well as learning
more about how and why people in your life respond to you.
The skills that you will develop, are what I like to refer to as
"tools". For example: When a mechanic is faced with the
task of replacing an engine in an automobile, he needs all of the
tools necessary to complete the job. The same holds true for
us, when we are trying to reach our goals and become more effective
at getting our needs met. It's much more advantageous to face
life's challenges with all of the skills necessary (A full box of
Tools).
